Affiliate • A Society Affiliate is a member of an IEEE Society. • Society Affiliates are not IEEE members and are not entitled to any IEEE benefits or services that are reserved solely for IEEE members. All affiliate benefits and services come directly from the individual IEEE Society offering affiliation. IEEE 53
  • 54. IEEE Standards • It allows members to connect with a vast network of peers Association from leading world organizations in the industry and with Members thousands of professional experts participating in the standards development process. • There are two account types: 1) Individual: for independent professionals. 2) Corporate: It is granted to a team work inside an organization in which the standard has an important role, and it is not transferred with the worker if he leave the team. 1. Each geographic region consists of a number of countries. Each country may represents a section or may be divided into more than a section.A chapter is the technical sub-unit of one or more sections. The societies represent a wide range of technical interests by providing publications, conferences, community networking, and many other benefits to members within their specialty areas. IEEE technical councils are groups of societies working together in broad areas of technology.IEEE affinity groups are local units of IEEE organizational units or standing committees.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------2010 IEEE President and CEO: Mr. Pedro A. RayIEEE President-Elect: Dr. Moshe KamIEEE Past President: Dr. John R. VigThe voting members of each Division elect a Delegate to the Assembly ( Divisional Delegate).the voting members of each Region shall elect a Delegate to the IEEE Assembly (Regional Delegate)
  2. 1790 Analytics LLC : – Highlight science and technology trends– Identify emerging, disruptive technologies– Locate high impact patents and publications– Unearth linkages between unrelated technologies– Find new applications for existing technologies
  3. ABET is a federation of 29 engineering, professional and technical societies and is recognized by the Council on Higher Education (CHEA) to accredit programs in engineering, engineering technology, computing science, and applied science programs within the United States. The CEAA is responsible for IEEE's participation in the accreditation activities of the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET, which accredits engineering programs.the CTAA is responsible for the IEEE's participation in the accreditation activities of the Technology Accreditation Commission (TAC) of ABET, which accredits engineering technology programs.
  4. A Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is a measure used in continuing education programs, particularly those required in a licensed profession in order for the professional to maintain the license
  5. TeacherIn-ServiceProgram (TISP): provides a forum for IEEE volunteers to demonstrate the application of engineering, science and mathematics concepts by sharing their real-world experiences with local pre-university educators.TryEngineering.org : lets visitors explore how to prepare for an engineering career, ask experts engineering-related questions, and play interactive games. Lesson plans: To Find engaging engineering lesson plans for your pre-university students that will make engineering fun.TryNano.org: as a resource for anyone interested in learning about nanoscience and nanotechnology.Outreach programs: IEEE Educational Activities, a partner in the National Academy of Engineering’s Engineering Equity Extension Service (EEES), has developed learning modules to provide assistance and support for those IEEE members interested in outreach activities to the pre-university community.Engineering Projects in Community Service (EPICS):"EPICS" stands for Engineering Projects in Community Service-Learning. EPICS, which was conceived and championed by IEEE 2007 President Leah Jamieson, is a program that organizes university and high-school students to work on engineering-related projects for local humanitarian organizations.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------IEEE Presidents' Scholarship: Established in 1999, the IEEE Presidents’ Scholarship recognizes a deserving student for an outstanding project that demonstrates an understanding of electrical engineering, electronics engineering, computer science, or other IEEE fields of interest.----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------IEEE Technical English Program (TEP): As English has become the primary shared language of professionals working on a cross-national basis.Real World Engineering Project (RWEP):aims to develop excellence in learning and teaching through curriculum development; by seeking projects in IEEE fields of interest for use by faculty worldwide.

  8. Ten years of professional experience The ad hoc Admission and Advancement (A&A) Review Panel that is evaluating your application will count the years you have been in professional practice.Time working and attending school at the same time will be counted either as work experience OR education experience.Your educational experience is credited toward that time as follows:3 years for a baccalaureate degree in an IEEE-designated field;4 years if you hold a baccalaureate and masters degree;5 years if you hold a doctorate.such performance including one or more of the following:(a) Substantial responsibility or achievement in one or more of IEEE-designated fields; or(b) Publication of papers, books, or inventions in one or more of IEEE-designated fields; or(c) Technical direction or management of important work with evidence of accomplishment in one or more of IEEE-designated fields; or(d) Recognized contributions to the welfare of the professions encompassed by one or more of the IEEE-designated fields; or(e) Development or furtherance of important courses in one or more of the IEEE-designated fields at an institution in the REP list; or(f) Contributions equivalent to those of (a) to (e) in areas related to IEEE-designated fields, provided these contributions serve to advance progress substantially in IEEE-designated fields.References The applicant must also provide three references from current IEEE members holding Senior Member, Fellow or Honorary Member grade. Your professional colleagues are your best source of these references. If you have difficulty in locating Senior Members or Fellows to serve as references you have three options.Option 1Follow these simple steps to search for Senior or Fellow members using IEEE memberNet, the IEEE on-line member directorySign in to myIEEEEnter your user name and passwordSelect "Launch Network" from the memberNet section in the upper right hand cornerFirst select "Fellow" and "Senior Member" from the Member Grade list and click the add button. (Be sure to also include Life Senior and Life Fellow to strengthen your search)Add Technical Interest Profile(s) and/or Country(s) to complete your searchWhen ready select the search button.Draft email to perspective references, be sure to include where you obtained their contact information from (reference memberNet).Contact a few members in your local Section before contacting members outside your local area.Check the Senior Member status page before contacting additional perspective references.Learn more about IEEE memberNet - The IEEE Member Directory OnlineOption 2Contact the Section or Chapter Chair for assistance in finding qualified references. For assistance in contacting your Section/Chapter Chair, e-mail Denise Howard at: senior-member@ieee.orgOption 3Attend Section meetings, network with Senior Members and Fellows in your area.
