- Poverty trends by region- $1.25 a day poverty.From a quick calculation I got an estimate of 866 million $1.25 poor in 2025..so i would say around 850 to approximate (the assumption is the same annual population growth witnessed between 2000-2011 carrying on up to 2025..)
- 27.84 percent of the total population of York lived below the poverty line in 1899. Rowntree describes this group as consistently having "insufficient financial resources to obtain the minimum necessities for the maintenance of mere physical existence“. In Rowntree's work, he surveyed rich families in York and drew a poverty line in terms of a minimum weekly sum of money "necessary to enable families... to secure the necessaries of a healthy life" (quoted in Coates and Silburn, 1970). The money needed for this subsistence level of existence covered fuel and light, rent, food, clothing, and household and personal items, adjusted according to family size. This figure had dropped to 18 per cent in 1936 and 1.5 per cent in 1950. Tout 1938 estimated 10.7% working class families in 1938 in Bristolwere below the poverty line.
- Judith asked me to use those 3 regions only but if we actually consider latin America and North Africa, since their poverty reduction rates in 2015-25 are very small (even if the % of poverty is small), poverty would be eradicated after 2080 in those regions if we follow the same reduction rates..i suggest the title is that poverty will be eradicated in sub Saharan Africa by 2080...then one can make the point that in the other regions will be eradicated before...
