1. LOCATION RECCE

Location Details The Filming is going to take place at Bluebell woods in Armthorpe. We have
chosen their because we believe that it is a suitable place to film a horror
movie. The fields and woods their can add an eerie effects which could help
our trailer look more scary. The woods itself is quite dark and you don’t see
many people there which makes it better, there are also lots of leaves and
other debris that adds to the effect of spooky and scary when walking through
the forest.
There are also some paths to follow downs but you can go off the path if you
want to. In the end it is a very suitable place to shoot our horror trailer as it is
dark, spooky and adds a great effect once filming has started.
Scene/Purpose
of filming
The whole purpose of filming in a forest is to try and add an eerie sort of effect
to the trailer. When we did our research into the horror genre of films we found
out that in order to create a good and effective horror trailer then it needs to be
filmed in a suitable location that bests suites the genre.
Our purpose or goal is to try and create an effective trailer that clearly states
what genre it is as soon as people view it. I have researched different locations
to do our trailer and as a team we have decided to go with Sandal Beat Wood.
Not only because it is easily accessible but also it had a history of people going
missing here and other spooky sort of stories that have been in the newspaper
years ago, this adds and extra effect and will help to make our trailer by more
real.

2. LOCATION RECCE
Permissions It is a public area meaning
you do not need
permission to enter the
area. However, there are
places that you are not
allowed to go such as the
buildings when they are
closed and the railway.
The railway is trespassing
and you could have a hefty
fine. As for the building it is
breaking and entering as
well as trespassing to enter
that building or try and go
on the premises.
Access Easy- you could either take
the road from Doncaster
Racecourse and drive into
the care park or you could
enter the woods from
multiples paths around on
the walk paths
Electricity
Supply
There are electricity points
but they are only available
in the building which is
situated the main building,
but these electric points are
only available when the
building is open which is
usually in the summer
period when its warmer and
not in the winter when it’s
too cold
Availability This is a very good site
which is pretty much
available at all times no
matter if it’s the middle of
the day or the middle of the
night. This site does not
close and so if easily
accessible whenever we
like
Food There is no food on offer as
we will have to bring our
own if we are spending long
periods of time their
Parking There is a small car park
which is available to
members of the public but
the car park is never really
busy and there is always a
parking space free, so this
makes up for it being small
Points of
Interest
- It is dark and dreary
which is very
suitable for a horror
trailer
- It is very quiet
- Not many people
are there which
makes it quite
isolated
- The trees are
creaking and
making weird
noises
Toilets There are toilets along with
the main building but
because the building is
locked over the cold winter
period, so are the toilets
Sunlight It is a forest which can be
quite dense in some places
which limits the amount of
sunlight that reaches the
floor of the
Suitability/
Possible shots
There is lots of room to
take as many different
shots as we can want to
take. We are not restricted
for space but some of the
bushes and trees could
block the shot unless we
get a good angle
Windows It is outside so there are no
windows
Flooring/
ground
The flooring and ground are
muddy because it is a forest
after all. We will have to be
careful where we step
otherwise we could slip and
become really muddy

3. LOCATION RECCE
Safety Issues There are no real safety
issues. There is the train
tracks that can be dangerous
because of the electricity and
the trains but I don’t think
they are in use anymore
Noise This is a wood/forest so it
has people walking their
dogs etc which is about as
long as it is going to get.
There is nothing else that
could create any more
noise. There used to be the
trains that could create
noise but they have stopped
coming now.
Space We have all the space we
need in order to create a
very effective trailer. We are
not restricted in space and
the places where we can go
are almost limitless in the
woods
