ABOUT BERLITZ – HISTORY
Berlitz is the world’s premier provider of language training and
intercultural services, with a footprint in more than 70 countries.
Based on providing an immersive experience with native teachers and
focusing on oral communication, the Berlitz Method® is capable of
accelerating learning and building the key foundation for effective
communication – learners’ self-confidence. Berlitz Method® was
introduced in 1878 and it changed the way language was taught.
Berlitz started franchising in 1889.
Berlitz was also the first to offer multiple platform delivery (face-to-
face, virtual, online, mobile, study abroad) of its programs, with options
to learn at work, at home or on the road. This is a huge benefit to

BERLITZ OFFERS THREE FRANCHISE PROGRAMS:
Traditional Berlitz Language Centers (US and International): These center-based model benefits
from Berlitz’s Global Account Agreements which include many leading organizations around the world,
such as SAP, Google, Procter & Gamble and many others. This model focuses on adult learning and
corporate training for language, communication, intercultural and business competencies. It offers over
340 custom programs by industry or functional departments. Desired locations are within business
districts and affluent areas.
Berlitz Kids and Teens Language Centers (US and International): This center-based model offers
language instruction to Kids and Teens in a safe and vibrant setting. It includes co-branded learning
material with National Geographic and attractive merchandising, such as backpacks and puppets.
Great for suburbs!
Berlitz Kids After-School Program (US only): This home-based model works with schools within
designated District School Board(s) and private schools. The territory is defined by school district. It
offers after school language instructions to kids from in Public K-5, charter and private schools. This
is a great way for an entrepreneur to start a business (part-time) with low investment and association
with the world’s leading brand in the field.

DESIRED BACKGROUND
For Traditional Berlitz Language Centers: B2B business management, marketing, service-based operations,
education management and business development experience is an asset.
For Kids and Teens Language Centers: Kids-related business management, education management, marketing and
community-based business experience is an asset
For Kids After-School Program: Community oriented, kids-related experience, parent-teacher association (PTA)
involvement, teaching, education management, kids-related business operations and marketing is an asset.
ROLES & OPERATIONS
LANGUAGE CENTERS
For both center-based models, many of our franchisees have Center Directors running the business. So, a franchise
owner may decide to run the day-to-day or let our Berlitz support team train and support the Center Director, while the
business owner can run on a supervisory role. When running the center, owner concentrates on instructor scheduling,
quality control, business development and general administration tasks. Owners may or may not teach themselves.
Minimum of employees: 8 plus Manager or owner (may qualify for Investors Immigration Visa)
KIDS AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM (ASP)
For the home-based model, main role of the franchisee is focused on building relationships with schools, prospection of
new schools, instructor recruitment and retention, supervision of quality of instruction and administration tasks. Owner
may or may not teach. Minimum of employees: 3 instructors + owner/supervisor

guidance and quality assurance and best-business practices for instruction. Franchise Operations Manager, FOM: Will
provide on-going coaching on marketing, operations, scheduling, business development and product knowledge
KIDS AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM (ASP)
Franchise Operations Management will provide ongoing support on instructor recruitment, school prospection,
marketing, software support and others.

  • 3. © 2015 Berlitz CorporationPage 3 FRANCHISE PROGRAMS Franchising BERLITZ OFFERS THREE FRANCHISE PROGRAMS: Traditional Berlitz Language Centers (US and International): These center-based model benefits from Berlitz’s Global Account Agreements which include many leading organizations around the world, such as SAP, Google, Procter & Gamble and many others. This model focuses on adult learning and corporate training for language, communication, intercultural and business competencies. It offers over 340 custom programs by industry or functional departments. Desired locations are within business districts and affluent areas. Berlitz Kids and Teens Language Centers (US and International): This center-based model offers language instruction to Kids and Teens in a safe and vibrant setting. It includes co-branded learning material with National Geographic and attractive merchandising, such as backpacks and puppets. Great for suburbs! Berlitz Kids After-School Program (US only): This home-based model works with schools within designated District School Board(s) and private schools. The territory is defined by school district. It offers after school language instructions to kids from in Public K-5, charter and private schools. For Kids and Teens Language Centers: Kids-related business management, education management, marketing and community-based business experience is an asset For Kids After-School Program: Community oriented, kids-related experience, parent-teacher association (PTA) involvement, teaching, education management, kids-related business operations and marketing is an asset. ROLES & OPERATIONS LANGUAGE CENTERS For both center-based models, many of our franchisees have Center Directors running the business. So, a franchise owner may decide to run the day-to-day or let our Berlitz support team train and support the Center Director, while the business owner can run on a supervisory role. When running the center, owner concentrates on instructor scheduling, quality control, business development and general administration tasks. Owners may or may not teach themselves. Minimum of employees: 8 plus Manager or owner (may qualify for Investors Immigration Visa) KIDS AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM (ASP) For the home-based model, main role of the franchisee is focused on building relationships with schools, prospection of new schools, instructor recruitment and retention, supervision of quality of instruction and administration tasks.
