We’ll leave Cusco very early, heading towards the small town of Tinqui.
We’ll observe the impressive Vilcanota mountain range and pass through
several traditional towns. We’ll make some stops so you can take the best
pictures. Upon arrival we’ll meet the horsemen who’ll prepare everything
necessary to start our adventure. We’ll walk for around 3 hours to the point
where we’ll have lunch. Afterwards, we’ll continue with another 2 hours of
walking until we reach Upis where our comfortable camp will have already
been set up. Here we’ll have the opportunity to enjoy the hot springs before
our delicious dinner and a peaceful night's rest in the middle of the
mountains.

You’ll enjoy a delicious and nutritious breakfast that will provide you with
the necessary energy to continue our adventure. Today we’ll ascend to the
Arapa Pass (4,850 masl / 15,912 fasl). From this privileged place you will
be able to observe an impressive contrast in the landscape. Dunes that
look like they came out of the desert surround the glacial wonder of the Apu
Ausangate while, below, the valley extends with its brilliant greenness.
From this point, if you’re really lucky, you’ll be able to observe the flight of
the condor. Also, let yourself be astounded by the 3 beautiful and crystalline
lagoons each with a particular shade: red, green, and turquoise. We’ll soon
arrive at the place where our camp will already be set up. There you’ll feel
how your heart vibrates in front of the huge glacier while you enjoy a
nutritious dinner before bed.
2 DAY Upis | Arapa Pass – Yanacocha - Pucacocha Lake

Very early in the morning, after satisfying hunger with an exquisite
breakfast, we’ll ascend for 2 or 3 hours to the second pass of our
excursion, the Apuchata Pass (4,900 masl / 16,076 fasl). From here we’ll
descend for 1.5 hours to Ausangate Qocha where we’ll have lunch while
enjoying the amazing landscape. After our lunch, we will ascend 2 hours
until we reach the Palomani Pass (5,100 masl / 16,732 fasl) and then we’ll
go downhill to the small community of Huchuy Pinaya where our camp will
already be set up. Here a comfortable night of rest awaits you after
savoring the delicious dinner that our chef will have prepared with care.
3 DAY Pucacocha | Ausangate Cocha – Palomani Pass - Huchuy Phinaya

In the morning, we wake up early to have breakfast and then continue
walking to the Abra Qampa, a place that is surrounded by several snowy
peaks such as steel, Pico three, Huamanticlla. After 3 hours and 1/2 half,
you can see the Qomerqocha lagoon, where we will go for lunch. After
having lunch, we continue walking for about 2 hours more until reaching the
community of Pacchanta (4,000 m / 13,000 ft), this place still preserves
many of its traditions. By the way, this community has hot springs, and if
you like, you can enjoy a relaxing bath. Here we will stop to build our camp
and spend our last night.
4 DAY Huchuy Phinaya | Qampa Pass - Qomercocha Lake - Pacchanta

Ÿ Pre-departure briefing: You will meet your guide and group in our office
for an orientation before your trek.At this time, we will provide you with the
duffle bags which will be carried by our horses. The meeting will be at 5:00
PM the evening before the trip begins.
Ÿ Transportation: All your transportation is included in this package. We
will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the starting point of the
trek. Once you complete the tour, we will take you back to the door of your
hotel.
Ÿ Qualified guides: Our guides have dominion of English and Spanish,
professional education and official certification. They will explain to you
about the history, culture and environment along the trail, as well as lead
the group in ancestral rituals and ceremonies. They’ll also take care of
your safety, health and comfort during the trip so you can enjoy the trek
worry-free.
Ÿ Porters and horsemen: They will be in charge of preparing and
transferring the duffle bags of all our passengers.
Ÿ Emergency horse: All our alternative routes include an extra horse if any
of our passengers cannot continue the tour on foot.
Ÿ Equipment: Ausangate Peru uses the best equipment to ensure your
safety and comfort. Every two people will share Eureka Timberline tents
with a capacity for four people. Also, you'll have a spacious dining tent
where you can enjoy your food problem-free.
Ÿ Camping equipment: We have tents for cooking and eating, as well as
tables, chairs and complete kitchen equipment. All of this is transported
by horses.
Ÿ 1 duffle bag: There, you can carry your personal belongings (including
your sleeping bad) up to a maximum weight of 7 kg / 15 lbs.
Ÿ Pack mules: Our pack mules will transport all camping equipment, as
well as your personal luggage in the canvas bag.
Ÿ Food: Our chef prepares the best dishes in the middle of the mountain.
Our passengers love our food! We respect all diets, so let us know if you
have any particular restrictions on your reservation form and remind your
guide during the briefing. You will enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner, in
addition to hot drinks and snacks. Every morning we will give you your
snack so you can enjoy it during the walk.
Ÿ Water: Ausangate Peru will provide you with all the water you need. The
water is boiled, filtered, and cooled. You must bring your water bottles or
camelback. We recommend a capacity of 3 liters. You'll be able to fill your
bottles during each meal.
Ÿ Meals: 5 breakfasts, 4 lunches and 4 dinners. Special menus such as
vegetarian or vegan meals are available without additional costs.
Ÿ Morning tea: Every morning in our campsites, you’ll enjoy a cup of hot
coca tea as soon as you wake up. It will be an excellent way to start the
day.
Ÿ Tea time: In our campsites, we’ll serve you popcorn, cookies, coffee,
chocolate, tea, hot water, etc.After a long day of hiking, you won’t have to
wait until dinner to fill your stomach.
Ÿ Snacks (Days 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5): We’ll offer you delicious snacks in a cloth
bag: local fruits, cookies, chocolates, candy, etc.
Ÿ 1 cloth bag: As we’ve already mentioned, we’ll give you a cloth bag to
carry your snacks. In this way, we avoid using plastic bags, which
contaminate our environment.
Ÿ First aid: All Ausangate Peru guides have received specialized training
in first aid. We hold mandatory training sessions with our guides every
February. Your guide will always carry a first aid kit to face basic
emergencies (altitude sickness, traveler's diarrhea, cuts, scrapes.) and
oxygen. If necessary, we'll evacuate you from the path as quickly as
possible and ensure that you arrive at a clinic for treatment.
