What does it mean to be on a spiritual journey?
What is a spiritual journey?
A spiritual journey is a personal journey solely for the purpose of soul searching, finding self-purpose and developing
self-realisation. The questions which we mainly seek to answer is who am i? What is my soul purpose? How can I
be the change in the world? How do I start my life’s mission? How do I find complete happiness?

Each and every human being is unique and different. Every individual will reconcile with their true nature. Their
mission will be different, their mentality will be different,their journey and their destiny will be different. Therefore, this
spiritual journey will keep every answer distinctive to each individual. This is how you would be able to understand
why it is important to embark on a spiritual journey. We were influenced and mentality enslaved by society’s values
and expectations. But, we are no walking zombies, just following the mission handed to us. We do have our own
unique earthly responsibilites. Here is how to embark on a spiritual journey to find happiness.
Tip: Before you begin any spiritual journey, please ensure that you are willing to make any sacrifices
neccessary. Also, Be prepared for any minor or drastic life changes that may occur during or after your
journey has been terminated. Self-discipline and commitment are two extraordinary and beneficial traits for
this quest.

A journal is needed to record any experiences and events taken place through-out this journey. Different emotional,
mental, spiritual and physical experiences may or may not occur. During this spiritual journey please take note of:
Any mental changes such as a relieve in depression, stress, fear and worry.
Emotional changes, such as happiness, sadness or probably you’ve become numb to emotional joy or pain at
a point in this time.
All physical experiences such as nausea, light-headedness, loss of appetite etc. This usually occurs due to a
change in diet.
Spiritual experiences such as a self-revelation, pecular activities, and religious revelations. Whether they are
certain or uncertain, they should be recorded. Messages are revealed in the strangest ways at times.
Journalizing is vital for the conclusion of your spiritual journey. To fully understand and see the changes at every
step, your experience as well as your recorded progress throughout (journal) is needed.
A proper environment and location is needed
It is simply not a very easy task to partake in a spiritual journey in a noisy and disturbing environment. Relaxation
and silencing of the mind makes enables us to connect with our spiritual and higher self more effectively.Be heedful
of a peaceful and natural scenary away from the city and away from distraction of people. Likewise, the best
locations are where nature surrounds and the sounds present are thaat of birds chirping, wind blowing through the
trees or the river flowing. It helps the mind to be more silent and relaxed in such a way the answers your seek are
easily revealed.
Once you have prepared yourself mentally, you have chosen a suitable location and you are ready to journalise your
experience then it’s time to take action and commence your spiritual jouney.

3. Meditation is a spiritual technique used for spiritual awakening, clarity of the mind and restoration of peace, love and
harmony within oneself.It enables us to clear the mind of confusion.Through meditation, we are able to realise who
we are really are and what is our true nature (concious wareness). At this stage we can also call this self-realisation.
A research done by the John Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD based on over 19,000 meditation studies,
concluded that meditation can help ease pychological stresses such as depression, anxiety and pain. A relieve in
these stresses increases positivity and clarity of the mind. Therefore, we are able to control the mind connected with
our higher self (soul).
The different stages of meditation could also affect the results we obtain. Deep and long-term meditation practices
can open doors to unlimited concious and possibly enlightment. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced
meditator, to achieve self-realisation we should do this through meditation.
Yogic breathing and yoga can be implemented as a tehnique before you proceed to your daily meditation courses.
Yoga helps to prepare the body for meditation. However, yoga is optional in your spiritual journey.

Changes made in the diet and the mind
I know we’ve heard that certain foods are bad for the body. They are also bad for the brain, your mental health and
your nervous system. Before we explain how certain foods destroy your mind, lets take a look at the benefits of
proper dieting. Healthy, natural foods purifies the nervous system and cleanses the mind. Infact, the more pure and
natural the food, the deeper the concentration of the meditation.
Foods from animals, animal fats, fried foods, tinned foods, and chemically flavoured foods causes inertia, tiredness
and laziness of the mind. The mind and body experiences lack of energy and sleepiness. Likewise, spicy
condiments, seasonings, flavourings and spices creates restlessness in the mind and body. Pure and clean foods
creates peace and tranquility in the mind. The mind becomes more clear and alert.
To conclude
During this journey focus on a spiritual journey focus on a spiritual idea, what do you want the results of this journey
to be. Is it love? Happiness, mental health, success or positivty. What is it you wish to obtain at the very end. It is
what you will focus your mind on to get rid of fearless or negative thoughts. This will aid the mind on revealing the
answers as a result of attracting positive vibrations.
